Metro Detroit’s longest running indoor skate park is looking for community support to help with much needed renovations. Located on Telegraph Rd in Dearborn Hts, the center has provided action-sport recreation activities to area youth for over 20 years. Now that times are changing, management made a tough decision to close a portion of the park to make room for another tenant. The building needs a new roof, and with the extra costs of re configuring the park, the owners have set up a GoFundMe Page and are asking for your support. If you can’t donate and would like to help, social media posts, word of mouth, and just about everything else are greatly appreciated. Management writes:
“Transitions Skatepark holds a special place in the hearts and memories of all who have entered its doors. From kids honing their abilities on skateboards, bikes, rollerblades, and scooters, to LIVE events that harbored a budding music scene. The park has had tens of thousands of people come out and display their passion as they learn to perfect their craft. Some of these kids have gone on to be professional action sports athletes living their dreams, and others found it as an escape from reality where they can do something productive with their friends.
It’s incredible a small warehouse in a lower income area has had so much impact on its community.
In order to prolong the lifespan of the skatepark, one of the two rooms is being closed down and will be occupied by another tenant.
As tearing down 50% of the ramps at the park is already a HUGE loss to the scene, we felt the difference could be made up by changing the remaining 50% to fit everyones needs. As we are in the midst of an always SLOW Summer at an indoor park, and the entire roof must be replaced on top of the rebuild, here’s where Transitions needs your help…
The plans for Transitions if we reach certain fundraising goals-
$9,000-
-AIRBAG landing for the skatepark
-Relocating box jumps and mini ramp, as well as a bowl corner added to the mini-ramp.
-Free Day for all who come and ride the new setup.$14,000-
-Rebuild Wallride Area

Transitions has had a few different owners over the course of its life, each of which taking up the mantle as a labor of love, putting far more money and time into the place than should be expected of anyone. They understand that a lack of indoor skateparks during Michigan Winters will result in kids losing their passion.”
