PRESS RELEASE: OFFICE OF THE MAYOR
The “All American Holiday Decorating Contest” will kick off on Friday, November 25 and run until midnight on Saturday, December 24. Residents can visit the City of Westland’s website to nominate themselves or a friend in one or all of the three categories: Best Traditional Display, Most Creative Display and Over the Top Display. Nominees will be asked to enter a picture along with their submission.
You can also enter the contest by posting your picture publicly on twitter or instagram, tagging @CityofWestland and using the hashtag #westlandholidaypride.
Anyone can go onto the website, view the entries and vote for which holiday decorating display they think should win. Voting will close at midnight on Christmas Eve.
Winners will be announced and awarded with prizes at the first council meeting of the New Year on Monday, January 9.
“One of my favorite memories of the holidays growing up in Westland was driving around with my parents to look at the holiday lights and decorations,” commented Mayor Wild. “We have a lot of creative, festive residents here and I am excited to see what everyone comes up with.” For more information, contact Aubrey Berman at (734)467-3200
